SETTINGS TO SAVE YOUR MOBILE PHONE BATTERY LIFE

Hi friends, i'm sorry for not updating this blog for the last 5 days, it's due to my workload this semester.Today,I want to tell you few tips to maximize your mobile phone battery life.The tips are:

1. Turn off your mobile phone during the night while you are asleep. It will reserve some of the battery power for you, but if you do have emergency calls at night, this might not be applicable.



2. Set your network mode correctly. If you have a 3G-enabled mobile phone, you have three options: Dual mode, UMTSand GSM -depending on the phone you use-.If you are using 3G or 2G, select the mode accordingly, never select dual mode. Because every time you turn off your cell phone or lost signal, it has to search for the network and this process consumes battery power a lot.



3. Disable vibration, keypad sound and backlight.While some prefer vibration and need backlight to read, but these features requires much battery power to work, if you disable them, your battery will last longer.



4. Turn off Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS until you need to use them. They drain battery quickly.



5. Reduce the apps running in the background.Unnecessary features like camera and mobile internet are those features that will tremendously consume your battery power.



6. Decrease the brightness of your cell phone screen:this method is the one i like so much because it effectively save battery life, and one will certainly see a huge increase in the time of use.

How to Change Wallpaper in Windows 7 Starter

By default the Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic editions do not include the Personalization features such as change desktop background, Desktop Slideshow, Screen Saver, and Windows Color and Appearance.

This particular tutorial will show you how to add these features to the Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic editions, as there are other ways (which i will discuss in my subsequent post)to go about this...Let's ride on

1.We are gonna be making use of a software Called "Oceanis Change Background

W7" to change the Wallpaper of our PC on Window 7 Starter Edition. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD IT



2.Unzip the downloaded file

3.Run the Oceanis_Change_Background_W7.exe file.

NOTE: You will be prompted to restart the computer to finish installing this program.



4. When your computer restarts, you will see this as your desktop background. Click on the Oceanis Change Background Windows 7 shortcut to change your desktop background. (see screenshot below)

5.Browse to the images that you want to use and check (select) an image, or more than one image to have a desktop slideshow.



6. Select the Picture position for how you want the images displayed, and any desktop slideshow settings if you selected more than one image. (see screenshots below)

7.When done, click on Save changes. (see screenshots above)



NOTE THAT:
*You can tick as many Images as you want, It will make your wallpaper slides,meaning that your wallpaper will be changing.

*Don't use this software on other Edition of Window 7 because it will get you angry!

BREAKDOWN OF 2011 JUNE/JULY NECO RESULTS RELEASED

The National Examinations Council(NECO) has finally released the results of the 2011/2012 examinations held in June/July 2011. The Results can now be accessed from

the board’s official website using the new scratch cards from NECO.

To check your Result, follow the six(6) simple steps below.

1. Go to http://www.mynecoexams.com/results/default.aspx

2. Select year Examination Type

3. Select year of examination

4. Enter your card PIN number

5. Enter your Examination Number

6. Click on “Check My Result” button

Breakdown of the results shows that out of the 1,190,393 that registered for the



-English language, 1,160,049 actually sat for the examinations while only 2,119 or 0.18% came out with Distinction and 263,777 or 22.16% came out with Credit pass, 76,224 or 6.40% failed while there 51,312 malpractice or 4.31% was recorded.



- Mathematics, 1,190,365 registered for the subject while 1,156,561 sat for it with only 3,356 or 0.28% obtaining Distinction and 295,961 or 24.86% with credit, 7, 7,395 or 60.27% pass, 89,023 or 7.48% failed while 50,826 or 4.27% malpractice was recorded.



Core subjects like Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further Mathematics also recorded mass failure with high degrees of malpractices also recorded.



Of the 1,190,393 candidates that registered for the examination, only 1,160561 actually sat for the examination.

HOW TO GET MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE FROM YOUR BATTERY

Did you even notice the number of mobile devices you have? MP3, mobile phone, tablet PC, laptop, digital camera, GPS, and handheld console and more. All these mobile devices are powered by batteries, which cause the most concerns about battery life.

Generally, battery life depends on

your settings and apps you run. Meanwhile, knowledge about battery maintenance is also important. You may have backups, but if you own an iPhone, unfortunately you are not able to change the battery.

Take Li-on battery as example. When you buy a new battery, it does not matter how many times you charge and discharge it. But after a long time of usage, usually more than one year, you will notice the difference. The battery lasts shorter as there is a loss of battery capacity.



There are rumors on the internet that new battery should be charged for more than 12 hours for three times, then totally discharge it in order to activate the most battery capacity.



Well according to experiments, the best way to maintain a Li-on battery is light usage and quick charge and discharge. The battery life depends on how many times you fully charge and discharge it, the more times, the shorter battery life.



For normal users, the right time for charging your battery comes when 10% or 20% of your battery capacity is used, and 50% is acceptable too. The situation you should avoid is a full discharge, do not wait until your battery is used up.



Other factors worth noting is that temperature also has an impact on the battery lifespan. When the temperature is too high (over 30) or too low, the battery life could suffer a loss. For instance, when plug in your power supply, you should take the battery out from your laptop. It’s not because it may over charge your battery, but laptop overheating could cause damage to the battery. Of course if you suffer from a power shortage, it’s wise to keep your laptop battery where it is to avoid loss of private data.

How to Remove Raila Odinga Virus in 1 minute

Hi, it's been a long time, and i am very sorry for not updating this blog for quiet some weeks now.Over the weeks, my PC was infected with Raila Odinga virus, and it actually gave me a tough time removing it from my PC.

Today, i want to teach you how you can remove Raila Odinga Virus in 1 minutes in case your PC got infected too.

Now, i know that the next question on your mind is that "What is so special about this Raila Odinga Virus?..."Well, i will tell you the special things about this funny virus, just follow me...

Removing Raila Odinga Virus from your PC is a very easy process.
Raila odinga has some common characteristics” Some infected PC have the following programs disabled:
• Control Panel
• Task Manager
• The ‘Run’ Command
• The Command Prompt

Raila Odinga also hits Microsoft word files. It manifests itself as a .jpg file, often found on the user’s desktop. The virus also causes issues with software installation, hidden files, removable drives, and Internet access. Restarting the infected computer under ‘Safe’ mode does not resolve the problem.

The virus displays a picture of Raila Odinga upon infection. It copies itself onto your system. The Raila Odinga .exe file then replicates itself into the Windows directory and establishes a registry entry.

The Raila Odinga virus has the following characteristics:
• Deleting the file does not eliminate the virus. It returns to its previous location after deletion.
• The virus runs from the system32 driver folder.
• It automatically runs at System Startup.
• The infected computer boots slowly and hangs.
• The virus creates new .exe folders in your system.

How to Remove the Raila Odinga Virus

1. Go to ‘My Computer’ and double-click on drive C.
2. Open the Windows folder, and double-click on the system32 folder.
3. Open the driver folder and find the anomalous word file. Note its name.
4. Point your mouse cursor to the task bar, and right-click.
5. Access the Task Manager, and click on the ‘Process’ tab.
6. Find the file with the same name as the word file you located earlier, and click on ‘End Process.’
7. Go to the system32 driver folder where the file is located. Erase all MS Word files in said folder. Close the aforementioned folder.
8. Determine where the Raila Odinga .jpg file is. Erase the file.
9. Do not double-click on the picture file.
10. Empty the Recycle Bin.
11. Restart your computer.

How to Secure Your Microsoft Office 2007 Documents

My previous post talked about how you can secure your Microsoft office 2010 documents, and i have received mails from many people asking me to tell them how they can secure their documents on MS 2007; and this made me to decide to write on the topic again..

This tutorial is meant for those who are worried about sensitive/personal data in their Microsoft Office Document, and those that have to store documents on a shared location, such as a network folder or home computer.

Documents to be stored on a network folder or home computer can be encrypted and kept secured



1. To encrypt your MS document, click on the Microsoft Office Button in the upper left hand corner.

2. select Prepare from the left-hand menu and then choose Encrypt Document.

3. In the Encrypt Document dialog window type in your password for this document

4.Then enter your password again for verification and click OK.

NOTE THAT: You will not receive any type of confirmation message, this window will simply disappear

How to keep your PC safe

No one likes to end up with a computer that is so infected with viruses and spyware that the only option seems to format it and start over again. Keeping your computer safe from infections is actually not too difficult. Here are some tips on how to avoid problems:

Stick to websites that you are sure are legitimate sites. Do not visit websites that look like they were quickly thrown up, or have a lot of pop ups on their pages.



Do not download anything that you are not absolutely certain that you do not want to download. If you are on a page and a box pops up randomly asking you to download something (even if it says it is a virus scan), do not do it. If you allow an unfamiliar item to download, you greatly increase the likelihood you have just infected your computer.



Do not open unfamiliar email attachments. Even if the attachment is from a trusted friend, it is possible their contact list was hijacked and used to send out spam email. Only open an attachment if you are certain it contains legitimate information.



Do not click on unfamiliar links in emails. There are lots of people out there trying to impersonate real websites, such as banks, PayPal, the IRS, etc. Legitimate companies do not send you emails asking you to click on a link to update your account information. If you receive an email that looks like it could be the real deal, go directly to the company’s website and log in to your account to check it out instead of clicking on a link from your email.



Keep in mind nothing is really free. Those “free” music/poker/porn/games websites make their money by throwing up advertisements and sometimes that involves putting spyware on your computer. Avoid these types of sites.



Run antivirus software. Antivirus software does not catch everything, but it is still better to have it catch some problems than none at all. Are you curious about how to pick an antivirus software?

CREATE NOKIA S40 PROV FILE YOUSELF

create s40 prov file yourself

Hello there, it’s been a quiet long time . Lately, I have seen many of my friends with Nokia series 40 phones searching the internet for proxy settings (popularly called prov files) for their S40 phones of specified service providers.

So I made one executable file from a batch file to compile those settings offline, so that you can create prov files yourself at the corner of your room without connecting to the internet.

This post contains download link for the prov file maker and instructions about how to use it.

REQUIREMENTS
You need a pc.
Bluetooth device with drivers installed.
If Bluetooth device is not available on your PC, provision should be made for a USB and another phone with Bluetooth functionality.

STEPS TO FOLLOW:

DOWNLOAD PROV FILE MAKER FROM THIS LINK

http://www.ziddu.com/download/6234529/newnokias40internetsettingsmaker.exe.html

1. First download the settings maker from the above links and extract it .Then install it in any folder.
2. Now double click the executable file "S40 settings maker"
3. Enter the proxy server address you wish to configure
4. Enter the port number.
5. Enter the access point name (e.g: wap.ng.airtel.com in Airtel Nigeria & web.gprs.mtnnigerial.net in MTN Nigeria)
6. When you get the message of settings compilation , go to the folder where you installed all files and search for file named "s40settings.prov"
7. Send this file through Bluetooth or infrared to your nokia S40 phone.
8. You will receive message "configuration settings received "
9. save the settings in the phone.
10. Finally, make this setting as default in your phone.
